Sun Prairie is roughly 12 miles from our Madison base, about 20 minutes, with no travel surcharge. Most of the city was built after 1995, which means LP SmartSide and vinyl rather than old wood, and it also means a large share of homes are hitting the 15 to 25 year mark when the original builder-grade exterior coating gives out. That is a wash-and-repaint job, not a scrape job, and it prices accordingly.
Sun Prairie grew faster than almost anywhere in Wisconsin over the last thirty years, and that creates a very particular painting market. Whole subdivisions went up in the same three-year window with the same siding and the same builder-grade paint, and now they are all failing on the same schedule. If your neighbor's south wall is chalking, yours is too.
The good news is that engineered siding in sound condition is one of the best surfaces to repaint. It holds a coating well, it does not need the scraping an old cedar house does, and a wash plus two coats of quality acrylic gets you twelve to fifteen years. The jobs go quickly and the numbers are reasonable.
The one thing to check before choosing a color is your covenant. Many Sun Prairie subdivisions have an architectural committee with an approved palette, and repainting outside it can mean repainting twice. We will ask about it during the estimate.
Many Sun Prairie subdivisions carry architectural covenants with approved exterior color palettes. Check with your association before finalizing a color, and we will happily submit color chips as part of your estimate.

Yes. Many Sun Prairie subdivisions have an architectural committee with an approved palette. We will pull color chips and give you the manufacturer names and numbers your committee needs, and we will wait for approval before ordering paint.
Completely. Builder-grade exterior coatings on engineered siding typically start chalking around year 15 to 20, and the south and west elevations always go first. A wash and two coats of a premium acrylic will get you another twelve to fifteen years, and it does not require the scraping an older wood house would.
Yes, and Sun Prairie is full of it. It takes paint very well when it is sound. The critical checks are the bottom edges and any spot where the factory coating has been breached, because engineered siding that has taken on water needs board replacement, not paint.
