House Painters in Middleton, Wisconsin

Mid-century ranches and custom builds, two very different paint jobs

Middleton is about 8 miles west of our Madison base, roughly 15 minutes, with no travel surcharge. The city splits cleanly into two painting markets: 1950s through 1970s ranches and split-levels near the older core, many with original cedar or aluminum siding, and larger custom homes out toward Pheasant Branch and the Bishops Bay area where the finish expectations and the trim complexity are both considerably higher.

Middleton has some of the best-maintained mid-century housing stock in Dane County. The ranches and split-levels around the older core were well built, and a lot of them still carry original cedar siding that has been painted three or four times. Cedar that has been maintained is a genuinely excellent surface. Cedar that has gone ten years past due is a scraping project, and the difference between those two conditions is most of the price.

On the other side of town, the custom homes near Pheasant Branch and out toward Bishops Bay have the kind of trim detail, tall entries, and finish expectations that need a different approach entirely. More staging, more hand cutting, more time on the punch list. We price those honestly rather than pretending they are the same job as a ranch.

Middleton Hills, the traditional neighborhood development off Century Avenue, has design guidelines that extend to exterior color. We are familiar with the process and will factor approval time into the schedule.

Questions

Painting in Middleton.

(608) 555-0142
Do you paint cedar siding?

Yes, and Middleton has a lot of it. Cedar that has been maintained on schedule is one of the best surfaces there is. Cedar that is past due needs scraping, sanding, and same-day priming of every bare board, which is real labor. We will tell you which one you have during the walkthrough.

How much does exterior painting cost in Middleton?

It comes down to size and condition rather than to any per-foot rate. A well-maintained mid-century ranch is straightforward work. A larger custom home with tall entries, extensive trim, and multiple colors costs considerably more because of staging and hand-cutting time, and cedar that has gone past due costs more again because the prep is the work. We walk it and quote it in writing, free.

Do you work in Middleton Hills?

Yes. Middleton Hills has design guidelines that cover exterior color on many properties. We will pull the chips and specifications you need for approval and build the review time into the schedule so nothing gets ordered prematurely.

Can you handle a two-story entry?

Yes, with proper staging rather than a ladder on a stair tread. Tall entries and open foyers are where paint jobs get skipped or rushed, and they are also where people get hurt. It is set up properly or it does not get done.
